For example, efficient land use and urban design can reduce the need for driving, and appropriate parking supply and pricing can encourage the use of modes such as biking, walking and transit. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ (COG) Commuter Connections program proudly recognized five local employers and organizations on June 30, 2023 for their outstanding commute alternative programs at the 26th annual Employer Recognition Awards ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

Commuter Connections recognized George Mason University (GMU) of Fairfax County, VA with the 2023 Employer Recognition Award for commuter incentives.

GMU has developed a unique incentives program centered around a robust bicycle commuting initiative, online tools to connect employees to transit options, and a modern work environment for teleworking. The University has invested in online resources to encourage employees to explore alternative forms of transportation and to make alternatives more accessible.

As a BWC member, you have exclusive use of the BWC member directory. This is a great way to see what organizations are around the country, in your local area and who is the contact. You may reach out to another member by email using the "Send Message" button. You will not see their email address, but the system will send them a direct email. Try it out!

Instructions:

1. Login at www.bestworkplaces.org

2. Hover over "Members Only" from the top menu bar

3. Select "Directory"

4. This displays a directory of BWC members and partners listed in alphabetical order by organization name. You may search by organization, name, state or city.

5. To email a member, click on their name. This will display more information about the organization.

6. Select the "Send Message" button to send an email.
